1. His father is a Muslim while his mother is a Christian
Born Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun in Surulere, Lagos State. He grew up living with 12 sisters. His father, Alhaji M.O Balogun, is a Muslim while his mother, Mrs Balogun is a Christian.
2. Wizkid was born in 1990
The popular singer was born on the 16th of July 1990. So he is currently 33. Apparently, he doesn’t look his age – he looks younger than his age.
3. He is a school dropout
Wizkid attended Ijebu Ode Grammar School. He then enrolled into the Lagos State University but he later dropped out.

Wizkid is a father to three sons. He welcomed his first son, Boluwatife in 2011 when he was 21-years-old. He had Tife with his then-girlfriend turned baby mama, Shola Ogudugu.

Wizkid came into the music industry when he was just 11 years old. Then, he was in a music group called the ‘Glorious five’.

5. Wizkid isn’t his first stage name
Before he adopted the name Wizkid, he went by the name, ‘Lil Prinz’. He had just started singing when he was going by the former. Then in 2016, he changed his name and started bearing his current stage name, ‘Wizkid’.

Wizkid’s first single is titled ‘Mami water’. Thereafter, he signed to Banky W’s EME record label in 2009 and the rest was history.
He dropped his first studio album ‘Superstar’ in 2009 and released the hit song ‘Holla at your Boy’ in 2010 – this song brought him to fame.
Subsequently, his album ‘Superstar,’ was released in 2011 under Empire Mates Entertainment. ‘Superstar’ introduced Wizkid to the world.
In 2014, he dropped the second album ‘Ayo.’ One song that stood out from the album was ‘Jaiye Jaiye’ featuring music icon, Femi Kuti.
7. He has worked with popular international stars
Wizkid has gone beyond the shores of Nigeria. he has worked with big music stars in the country and indeed outside the shores of Nigeria.
Some of the international artiste he has sang with include, Drake, Beyonce and Chris Brown.
In 2016, the 33 became the first Nigerian singer to make it to Billboard’s Twitter Last 24 hours chart after his guest feature with Drake on the hit single ‘One Dance’.
8. Wizkid currently boasts three albums
So far, Wizkid has three albums to his credit. The albums include Superstar released in 2011; Ayo which was released in 2014 and ‘Sounds from the Other Side’ released in 2017.

Some of which include Pepsi, MTN, and Glo. In 2019, he was unveiled as the headliner for UBA’s strategic corporate market event.
10. Wizkid owns his own record label
Wizkid established his label, ‘imprint Starboy Entertainment’ in March 2013.
Wizkid announced the 16th of July 2020 as the release date for his long-awaited “Made In Lagos” album.
