A 65-year-old grandmother has tied the knot with her 24-year-old adopted son.

According to News 7 Australia, Mbah Gambreng adopted Ardi Waras just last year. However, their relationship soon turned into a romantic one.

According to Mbah, she didn’t intend to marry Ardi when she adopted him, but one thing led to another.

Mbah Gambreng (right) marries Ardi Waras whom he adopted to become her son about a year ago.

The granny says she only told her son he “should get married soon” due to the fact that her three other adopted daughters were already married.

“To my surprise, he said he wanted to marry me,” she said.

Eventually, she accepted his proposal and then he paid a dowry of 100,000 IDR (N2,740) to her.

Based on Islamic wedding practices in Indonesia, the groom or groom’s father pays money or possessions to the bride at the time of their wedding as dowry.

Photos of the wedding, which have been shared on social media, show the pair smiling and holding hands.
