Suspected fraudster, Ramon Abbas, alias Hushpuppi has been pronounced ‘absolutely not guilty’ by his legal representative, Gal Pissetzky of Pissetzky & Berliner.
Speaking in an interview with Forbes, Pissetzky refuted the fraud allegations levelled against his client, Ray Hushpuppi.
According to Pissetzky, his client is “an entrepreneur” who made his money through legal means – “real estate” and his work “promoting brands” as an “Instagram personality.”
Gal Pissetzky further stated that Hushpuppi is “Absolutely not guilty of the charges they are accusing him of.
“Abbas was running a legitimate business and a very legitimate Instagram account and did not take part in any scam or fraud.
“He’s an entrepreneur. He has real estate involvement, he’s an Instagram personality. He was promoting brands and that’s how he was very legitimately making his money.”
Court documents seen online showed Hushpuppi on Monday chose Gal Pissetzky, a senior partner at Chicago law firm Pissetzky & Berliner, to represent him.
Pissetzky is suppose help unhitch him from multi-million dollar fraud charges levelled against him by American authorities.
The FBI in an affidavit presented, alleged that Hushpuppi attempted to dupe an English Premier League football club of £100m (N48.4bn).
The affidavit read in part, “Abbas and others further conspired to launder hundreds of millions of dollars from other fraudulent schemes and computer intrusions, including one scheme to steal £100 million (approximately $124 million) from an English Premier League soccer club.
The Dubai police also uploaded a video showing his arrest. Noting that Hushpuppi defrauded over 1.9 billion people of over N150b.

The FBI further stated that should Hushpuppi be convicted, he risks spending 20 years in jail.
