ABU Zaria Departmental Cut Off Marks For All Courses (2020)

Published on

ABU Zaria departmental cut off mark is the minimum required JAMB UTME score set for all the departments (courses) found in ABU. In this post, we’ll share the correct cut off mark for all courses in 2019, as announced on Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria official website.

ABU Zaria is one of the biggest universities in Nigeria, based on landmass and admission capacity.

Every year, tens of thousands of students apply to gain admission into this highly rated institution; however, only a few thousands end up there.

A huge factor leading to the disqualification of many students is the annual cut-off mark the institution sets for all UTME candidates.

Several applicants don’t meet up with the score and, as a result, will be unqualified for admission.

If you participated in the recently concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) — and you have checked your result — the next thing to do is to check if you meet up with the cut-off mark for the department you applied for.

ABU Zaria departmental cut off mark (point) for 2019

You must take note that the general cut off mark set by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is 180. Also, the minimum / cut off mark as demanded by Ahmadu Bello University is 180.

In other words, No matter the course you applied for, if you score a minimum of 180 in your JAMB, ABU Zaria will allow you to register and participate in their annual post UTME.

However, registering and participating in the exam after scoring above 180 do not guarantee admission.

Here are the scores we recommend you get in order stake a good claim on ABU Zaria admission:

  • All courses under Faculty of Medicine: We recommend a JAMB score of not less than 250.
  • Law, Pharmacy, and all Engineering courses: From 220 and above
  • Science courses (Biochemistry, Microbiology, Geology, etc.): From 200 and above
  • Art courses (Mass communication, English Studies, etc.): We advise you score not less than 200 in JAMB.
  • Commercial courses (Banking and Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, etc.): Score at least 200.
  • Every other departments: A JAMB score of not less than 180 would do.

How do ABU Zaria Cut off Marks affect admissions?

Generally, Ahmadu Bello University calculates you aggregate score by adding your UTME score with your post UTME score. To put it differently, both your UTME and post UTME scores will determine your admission fate.

In most cases, candidates with the highest scores are considered first for admission.

Furthermore, reaching the cut off mark doesn’t guarantee admission. The performance of other candidates who chose the same course as you matters too.

In other words, even if you scored 200, in as much as there are hundreds of people with higher scores, you may end up not gaining admission into ABU Zaria.
