Access Bank to refund 3 months’ stamp duty debits after customers’ outcry

Yesterday, several Nigerians took to Twitter to drag Access Bank for deducting 3 months’ Stamp Duty from their accounts.

Without a doubt, the economic difficulties instigated by the worldwide pandemic has contributed to the annoyance of several Nigerians.

Moreover, customers were unhappy that the bank left the Stamp Duty for 3 months and decided deduct it all at once.

Clearly, the bank heard their cry and has decided to refund every one of them. They bank offered to pay it on their behalf.

“We have considered your feedback and have decided to pay the Stamp Duty on our customers’ behalf for the affected period only,” part of the message shared by Access Bank shared read.

“This means all individuals and SMEs who were debited for the accumulated Stamp Duty charge for February to April 2020 will be refunded.”
