Published on

This guide explains how to add family and friends on Airtel in easy to follow steps.

Airtel is a popular network among Nigerians. The network has over the years continue to witness increasing popularity among Nigerians consequent of the cheap data plans and call rates it offers.

However, If you don’t leverage on some of the products and discounts the network offers, you’ll end up spending more.

For instance, if you don’t add family and friends numbers, you’ll end up making calls at a considerably higher rate.

Those numbers could be those of your friends, relatives (father, mother, wife, children) or coworkers, provided they are Airtel numbers.

To get started, I’ll advise you to firstly make a list of the 5 Airtel numbers you frequently.

It doesn’t have to be exactly 5, though. If you don’t have up to 4 numbers for now, then you can add the ones you have, and then the remaining some other time.

How to add Family & Friends Numbers on Airtel (code)

Step 1. On your Airtel line, dial *311*2*phone number#.

For example, dial *311*2*08012345678# if you want to add 08012345678 to your Airtel Family & Friends list.

Step 2. Confirm you want to add the number when the network prompts you to do so.

Step 3. Repeat the process till you finish adding all the numbers you wish to add to your family and friends list.

Cost of adding the numbers

Adding numbers to your family and friends list on Airtel is completely free of charge for the first time. In other words, you won’t pay anything for adding the allowed 5 FAF numbers.

However, if you decide to delete or modify any of the numbers after adding them to your list, then you’ll have to pay a fee of 50 naira only. That’s why I urged you to make a list of the phone numbers you call frequently so as to avoid wasting the slots.

In the event, that you feel the need to modify your existing number, you can do that on another guide we’ve written to help you.

Airtel Family & Friends Call rates

From 6am to 9:59 pm, any call you make to numbers on your FAF list will be billed at 25k per second, while calls you make from 10pm to 5:59am will be charged at 21k per second.

The aforementioned charges, however, apply to your main balance only. To put it differently, if you’re calling with your bonus credit, then you’ll pay almost double.

For example, if you have the 800% Airtel Smartconnect tariff bonus, you’ll have to pay 40k/sec for all calls you make to your FAF numbers.

That’s everything all for now. If you have any questions, do let us know about it using the comment section below.
