Angry Man U Fans Launch Fireworks, Smoke Bombs at Ed Woodward’s Mansion

Published on

While some fans are patiently waiting for some turnaround to happen in their clubs, some have clearly lost patience already. Some Manchester United fans have taken some actions just to show their grievances on how Ed Woodward and the Glazers have been running the club.

You will recall that since the legendary Coach Alex Ferguson left Man Utd in 2013, the club has been going from bad to worse and back to bad, making no headways.

Also, there have been a good number of coaches coming in and going out of the club as none seems to be fit for the task.

However, some fans have accorded the blame to Manchester United Chief Executive, Ed Woodward, and they did not just say it, they went as far as attacking his house

These fans, who are believed to be members of United’s notorious ‘Men In Black’ hooligan firm had attacked Woodward’s luxurious £2m Cheshire mansion, according to the Sun UK, this happens to be where he lives with his wife and two children.

The fans gathered outside his house on Tuesday night, they rang the intercom on his gate entrance, when no one answered, they launched fireworks and a smoke bomb before spray painting his gates red.

Before this attack, some fans were heard singing about burning Ed Woodward’s head ‘on a spike’ in their last premier league game, having lost at home to Burnley.

‘the United fans to the tune of the famous American folk song, Clementine; ” Build a bonfire, build a bonfire, put the Glazers on the top, put Ed Woodward in the middle and burn the f***ing lot”.

The fans are supposedly angry over the poor transfer decisions and investment being made by Ed Woodward and the club’s owners – the Glazer family, since Sir Alex Ferguson left in 2013.

Manchester United has failed to win the Premier League trophy since 2013; finishing 4th, 5th, 2nd, 6th and 7th since then.

Manchester United have issued a statement saying the fans will be banned for life and also prosecuted after an investigation is carried out by police.

Manchester United in a statement on its official website wrote: ‘Manchester United Football Club have tonight been made aware of the incident outside the home of one of our employees.

We know that the football world will unite behind us as we work with Greater Manchester Police to identify the perpetrators of this unwarranted attack.

Anybody found guilty of a criminal offence, or found to be trespassing on this property, will be banned for life by the club and may face prosecution. Fans expressing [an] opinion is one thing, criminal damage and intent to endanger life is another. There is simply no excuse for this.’

Recall that Man Utd missed out on Champions League football last season; however, they have qualified for the 5th round of the FA draws for 2019/2020

Meanwhile, they are in currently 5th in the league table, six points behind the top four with just 14 matches remaining.
