Recently, a freelancer friend of mine asked me what it takes to become a Fiverr top rated seller. I provided answers to her and decided to share, in this post, some of my best tips.
Fiverr top rated sellers enjoy a lot of benefits along with their level rank. They most times get featured on the first page of their respective subcategories.
I believe you know what it means for a gig to be among the featured Fiverr gigs — orders will continue to pour in; even more than anyone could possibly handle.
However, becoming a top rated seller on Fiverr is no easy feat — remaining one is no less difficult. There are best practices and secret measures the best freelancers apply to remain as a Fiverr top seller.
Some freelancers have been on Fiverr for over 5 years and have never smelled the top rated seller rank; some, on the other hand, were able to achieve that rank in a little over 1 year.
To become a top rated seller at such a fast pace demands some bit of good fortune — but it’s not all luck. You need to make little or no mistakes before and after you become a top rated seller.
If you’re new on Fiverr, you are most likely still in the New Seller Level. So I’ll be taking you, from scratch, through the processes required to break the back of the beast.

Fiverr Seller Levels
1. New Seller — Attaining this level does not require anything spectacular. All that is required of you is to create a seller profile and a gig. Thereafter, you become a new seller and have access to the following benefits:
- 7 active Gigs, 2 Gig extras, and 5 Gig multiples
- Send Custom Offers, up to $5,000
- Clearance to withdraw Fiverr funds after 14 days or completing an order
If you want to get promoted to the next level, here’s what you need to do:
- Complete at least 60 days as a seller and 10 orders with an average rating of 4.8
- Earn at least $400
- Maintain at least 90% response rate, on time delivery, order completion over the course of 60 days
- Avoid receiving any TOS violation warnings over the course of 30 days
2. Level One Seller — This is the next level after the New Seller Level and comes with following benefits:
- 10 Active Gigs, 4 Gig Extras, and10 Gig Multiples
- Send Custom Offers, up to $5,000
- Eligibility to withdraw funds after 14 days of order completion
- Eligibility to get featured at promotional listings
To promote from Level One to the next, you need to meetup the following requirements:
- Complete at least 120 days as an active Seller on Fiverr
- Complete at least 50 individual orders (all time) earning $2,000, and average of 4.8 ratings (for last 60 days)
- 90% Response rate, order completion rate and on-time delivery rate over the course of 60 days
- Avoid receiving any TOS violation warnings over the course of 30 days
3. Level Two Seller — This is the next level after Level One and comes with the following benefits:
- 20 Active Gigs, 5 Gig Extras and 15 Gig Multiples
- Send Custom Offers, up to $10,000
- Priority Customer Support
- Eligibility to get featured at promotional listings
- Eligibility for Customer Success program
- Earning clearance: 14 days
To get promoted from Level Two to the next level (top rated seller), you need to meetup with the following requirements:
- Complete at least 180 days as an active Fiverr Seller
- Complete at least 100 individual orders (all time)
- Maintain a 4.8 star rating over the course of 60 days
- Earn at least $20,000
- Maintain at least 90% Response rate, order completion rate and on-time delivery rate over the course of 60 days
- Avoid receiving any TOS violation warnings over the course of 30 days
4. Top Rated Seller — This is the highest seller rank on Fiverr and comes with the following benefits:
- 30 Active Gigs, 6 Gig Extras, and 20 Gig Multiples
- Custom Offers, up to $10,000
- VIP Customer Support
- Eligibility to be featured at promotional listings
- Eligibility for Customer Success program
- Eligibility to withdraw funds after 7 days of order completion
Promotion from New Seller to Level Two Seller is automated; reaching the Top Seller Level on the other hand, demands a manual review from Fiverr.
Becoming a Fiverr Top Rated Seller
You’ve seen the level systems on Fiverr and you’re probably felling like “wow! so I can become a Fiverr top rated seller in just 180 days.”
Yeah, that’s mathematically correct.
In practical sense, you can; but in logical sense, not so easy.
There are four main threats to achieving your goal, which are: 90% Response rate, 90% order completion rate, 90% on-time delivery and 4.8 ratings.
It’s when you begin to increase in level you’ll know just how hard it is to keep up with those requirements.
As for the number of orders you need to complete and amount of money you need to make, they are not so hard to achieve — if you asked me.
Ask the freelancers that have been on the platform for many years and still can’t make it to the top-rated seller level.
1. keep your response rate at 90%
It might sound easy if you’re a new seller, but it’s not so easy to keep up with after you attain Level 2. By then you’ll need to complete a lot of queued orders and at the same time respond to numerous messages.
That’s when you begin to ask yourself questions like “should I leave these 5 queued orders I’m attending to and begin to respond to the 100 messages I got today, of which 50% of them may end up not placing any orders?”
That’s when the real threat to maintaining a 90% response rate sets in.
You need to forfeit one for the other.
It’s either you limit the maximum number of queued orders you can have so you’ll not get overwhelmed by queued order and response rate.
So, which is it gonna be?
Money or Fame?
There’s a way I helped myself maintain a good response rate even with many queued orders.
It was by downloading the Fiverr mobile app, keeping myself logged in and enabling online status.
With that, you will receive messages and buyer request notifications in real time. You can reply to them immediately so they won’t pile up.
It’s just like responding to WhatsApp messages.
2. Keep order completion and on-time delivery rate at 90%
There are a lot of goodies that come with climbing up the Fiverr Level rank. But it can also become a can of worms at some point (a good problem to deal with, supposedly).
If you’re new on Fiverr, you might be feeling like it’s not so hard to complete 90% of your orders and deliver them on time. However, once you get to level 2, a lot of things start to change.
Your Gig get featured on Fiverr’s first page several times; some level 2 sellers even remain featured on the First page.
That’s when a lot of orders start to fly in; even misplaced orders. Some non-native English speakers may not properly read your gig description and end up placing a basic order for a premium job description.
As a result of all that, order cancellation may become almost inevitable.
You may have to contact support to get things resolved. But unfortunately, Fiverr support can sometimes be a pain in the ass.
If you took note of all the benefits that come with level promotion, then you’d know that you start getting priority support from Fiverr when you get to Level 2.
How about if you’re in level 1 and something like that happens?
This is where you need some good fortune. You must hope to never get clients that order the wrong Gig plan that may require cancellation.
If I were you and something like that — of which I know can be a threat to me achieving 90% order completion rate happens, I might be tempted to complete that order.
But here’s how to avoid such mistakes from happening:
- Your gig description must be clear and written with in basic English
- Do not set very identical gig pricing; make their differences obvious
- Urge buyers to always contact you before placing orders
Besides the fact that some clients could mistakenly place the wrong orders, you could also become a victim of a spike in gig orders, especially if your gig appeared among the featured Fiverr gigs.
If you’re confused about what to do, you may end up having to cancel many of those orders. Which will not only send a bad signal to the Fiverr algorithm, but may also prevent you from ever climbing up to the top-seller level.

Let me make a summary of what you must do if you don’t want excessive orders:
- Limit the number of queued orders you can get
- Again, urge buyers to contact you before placing orders
3. Avoid bad reviews
There’s something I don’t fancy very much about Fiverr. One bad review can throw a huge spanner into your long-term good work.
In some cases, bad reviews are undeserved. It may come as a result of a bad buyer trying to cajole you into doing his/her bidding. Maybe by demanding more than bargain, requesting for additional reviews, trying to force you to do extra work for free, and many more.
In this case, you’ll have to look to support to bail you out — and if you’re in entry level or level 1, you won’t get priority support from Fiverr.
Most times, in disputes like this, low ranking Fiverr sellers end up carrying the can.
what to do to stay clear of bad ratings
- If need be, have long conversations with buyers to help you understand their jobs perfectly
- Connect with other sellers in forums or group chats. There, you may learn from their experiences with certain buyers
- Keep contact with your best buyers; ones that can almost guarantee you a five star rating.
I know a couple of big times sellers who involve in exchanging positive ratings whenever there’s a bad rating that can undermine their good works.
However, it’s quite risky and can land you in hot water. Remember, achieving a top seller status will demand a manual review from the Fiverr team. You’d not want to be involved in anything that can undermine your efforts.
4. Avoid altercations with buyers
You may be qualified for the Fiverr Top Seller Level and still not get it. Maybe because you once upon a time got into an altercation with a client that sent you an annoying message.
Remember, messages you send on Fiverr are not so private. The Fiverr support team can actually read your chats with buyers and discover those messages whenever your account is being manually reviewed.
That’s why you must avoid getting into altercations with clients — even if they only contacted you and did not place any orders.
Apart from private (not so private) messages. In the Fiverr forum, you must make sure you don’t have heated conversations over there.
It’s not so necessary that you stay active in the Forum. However, it’s a good place to quickly get noticed by Fiverr staffers, fellow freelancers and buyers.
Conclusion
Becoming and remaining a Top Rated Seller on Fiverr is easier said than done. From getting started with zero respect in New Seller and Level 1 to dealling with numerous orders in Level 2 and Top Rated Seller.
Once you’ve reached Level 2 though, you’ll begin to get priority support from Fiverr. Also, buyers will begin to respect you more.
Increase in level comes with its perks, but it’s always a positive problem to deal with.
