According to Sahara Reporters, Ajimobi had been on a life support machine since last Friday at First Cardiology Hospital in Ikoyi, Lagos, after he slipped into a coma.
Following coronavirus complications, he finally died on Thursday.
The former Oyo governor reportedly had a lung surgery after he was rushed to the Lagos hospital. However, he made no progress as his kidney also failed.
As soon as his health deteriorated, rumors flew around claiming he was dead. However, those reports were subsequently squashed.
Meanwhile, coronavirus has now killed several prominent persons in Nigeria including Abba Kyari, who was the Chief of Staff to the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari.
Incidentally, Abba Kyari was also treated at the same First Cardiology Hospital, Lagos until he died.
