BUK Cut Off Marks For All Departments / Courses (2020)

Published on

BUK departmental cut off mark is the minimum required JAMB UTME score set for all the departments (courses) found in BUK. Discover the correct cut off mark for all courses in 2019, as announced on Bayero University, Kano (BUK) official website.

BUK is one of the biggest universities in Nigeria, based on landmass and admission capacity.

Every year many students apply; however, only a few thousands end up gaining admission.

One factor leading to the disqualification of many students is the inability to beat the cut-off mark the institution sets for all UTME candidates.

Several applicants don’t meet up with the score and, as a consequence, will be unqualified for admission.

If you wrote the recently concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) — and you have checked your result — the next thing to do is to check if you meet up with the cut-off mark for the department you applied for.

BUK departmental cut off mark (point) for 2019

The general cut off mark for BUK is 180, which is inline with the one set by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

To put it differently, it doesn’t matter the course you applied for, if you scored a minimum of 180 in your JAMB, BUK will allow you to register and participate in their annual post UTME.

However, we recommend you score a lot higher than 180, since there are many other students you are competing against.

Here are the scores we recommend you get in order stake a good claim on BUK admission:

  • Medicine & Pharmacy faculties: We recommend a JAMB score of not less than 250.
  • Law and Engineering courses: From 230 and above
  • Science (Biochemistry, Microbiology, Geology, etc.): From 200 and above
  • Art (Mass communication, English Studies, etc.): We advise you score not less than 200 in JAMB.
  • Every other departments: A JAMB score of not less than 180 would do.

How do BUK Cut off Marks affect admissions?

Generally, Bayero University, Kano calculates you aggregate score by adding your UTME score with your post UTME score. In other words, both your UTME and post UTME performance will determine your admission fate.

Basically, candidates with the highest scores receive priority consideration for admission.

In addition, reaching the cut off mark doesn’t guarantee admission. The performance of other candidates who chose the same course as you matters too. In other words, even if you scored 250, in as much as there are hundreds of people with higher scores, you may end up not gaining admission into BUK.
