The Pennsylvania-born rapper who became popular in the 1990s ‘collapsed while spending some time at a friend’s house’ in Los Angeles.

Coolio, whose real name was Artis Leon Ivey Jr, was a rapper, record producer, and actor.

Artis was born on August 1, 1963, in Monessen, Pennsylvania, United States, and died on Wednesday, September 29, 2022, in Los Angeles.

Coolio went to the restroom and never came back out, according to his manager who spoke with TMZ. When his friend noticed he was taking too long in the restroom, he kept calling for him, but there was no response.

He eventually went in and found Coolio laying on the floor.

Coolio released three albums: It Takes a Thief, Gangsta’s Paradise, and My Soul.

Gangsta’s Paradise was his best-selling album, with over two million copies sold in the United States alone.

The lead song from the album by the same name “Gangsta’s Paradise” was the soundtrack for the 1995 film Dangerous Minds.

Meanwhile, the rapper’s official cause of death will be ascertained after an autopsy is complete.

He leaves behind 10 children, four of whom he shared with Josefa Salina. He married Josefa in 1996 and they divorced in 2000.
