Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has donated four ambulances to Lagos State to support COVID-19 response activities within the state. He made the donation via The Aliko Dangote Foundation which he founded in 1994.
The NCDC took to Twitter to announce the donation, expressing profound gratitude to the richest black man in the world.
“Today we received 4 ambulances from Aliko Dangote Foundation to support COVID-19 response activities in Lagos, led by the Lagos State Ministry of Health,” the NCDC wrote.
“Grateful for collective efforts demonstrated by the government & private sector in response to this outbreak,” they added.
This donation is in addition to the early N1 billion he pledged to support Nigeria as we hope to combat the outbreak of coronavirus.
The Aliko Dangote Foundation was incorporated in 1994 as a charity in Lagos, Nigeria and has since become one of the largest private Foundation in sub-Saharan Africa.
Nigeria has now recorded 89 cases of the deadly coronavirus. Out of those cases, Lagos State has 59.
Without doubt, those ambulances will come in handy, as the number of cases is expected to rise within the next couple of days.
