Coronavirus: Rivers State records 1st case as Nigeria’s tally rises to 51

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has announced five new cases of the novel coronavirus. Out of the 5 new cases, there are 2 in the FCT and 2 in Lagos.

Meanwhile, Rivers State has now recorded its debut case of the deadly bug that is sweeping across the globe.

“5 new cases of COVID19 have been confirmed in Nigeria: 2 in FCT, 2 in Lagos & 1 in Rivers,” The NCDC wrote in a tweet.

The NCDC went on to reveal that 3 of the cases are returning travellers into Nigeria while the other 2 are close contacts of a confirmed case.

With this new result, the number of coronavirus cases in Nigeria has now risen to 51.

At the moment, Lagos State and the FCT boast a greater share of the total number of cases.

Meanwhile, Nigeria has recorded just one death and 2 people have already recovered from the disease.
