The University of Calabar, as the name suggests, is situated in Calabar, the capital of Cross River State, which is located in south-south Nigeria.

The institution is one of the oldest universities in Nigeria, as it was founded in 1975.

Unsurprisingly, UNICAL has a wide range of undergraduate programmes, considering that it is among Nigeria’s second generation universities.

Requirements for UNICAL Admission

In order to be considered for admission to study at the University of Calabar (UNICAL), you must meet up with a few departmental requirements in addition to several other general requirements.

UTME General requirements

To gain admission to the University of Calabar through UTME, you must score at least five (5) credit passes at Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) in not more than two sittings.

In addition, you must get a JAMB UTME aggregate that’s less than 180; however, some departments may require higher.

• Those 5 credit passes in SSCE should include English Language and Mathematics.
• You must meet all the specific departmental requirements, including the SSCE subject combination and minimum UTME aggregate score. You can find that on your JAMB brochure.
• Finally, it is compulsory to register and take part in UNICAL Post UTME screening exercise.

Direct Entry (DE) requirements

• To gain admission into the University of Calabar through Direct Entry, candidates must possess at least five (5) credit passes in SSCE in not more than two sittings.
• Furthermore, candidates must possess at least two advanced level passes in OND with credit level; or NCE, also with credit level.
