The World Health Organization has revealed that the novel coronavirus isn’t airborne like most theories have suggested.
They responded to a popular message spreading on social media claiming that ‘COVID-19 is confirmed as airborne and can remain for up to 8 hours in the air.
Indeed, for COVID-19 to qualify as an airborne disease, it has to be caused by pathogens that can be transmitted through the air over time and distance by small particles.
According to the WHO, the virus that causes COVID-19 is mainly transmitted through droplets generated when infected persons sneeze, cough or speak.
Those droplets are, however, too heavy to hang in the air, so they quickly fall to the floor.
Meanwhile, you must protect yourself by keeping at least 1 metre distance from others and disinfect surfaces that are touched frequently.
Also, you must wash your hands regularly and avoid touching your eyes, mouth and nose.
