Aliko Dangote is Africa’s richest man. In fact, he’s the wealthiest black man in the universe.

The business mogul owns several large companies in Nigeria

Aliko Dangote’s net worth

Based on Forbes’ estimation, Aliko Dangote’s current net worth is $8.8 billion. That value is equivalent to 3.19 trillion naira (based on January 2020 dollar to naira exchange rate).

With his current net worth, he sits comfortably atop Forbes’ list of Africa’s richest men.

How he makes his money

Aliko Dangote is the owner and chairman of Dangote group of companies, which has traces in several African countries including Nigeria, Togo, Ghana, Benin, etc.

His biggest business is Dangote Cements, which he owns a stake of 88%. Dangote Cements is the biggest producer and supplier of cement on the African continent.

The company produces 44 million metric tons of cement annually and plans to increase its output by 33% in 2020.

Aside from his cement business, he owns stakes in publicly-traded salt, sugar and flour manufacturing companies.

It can be noted that Dangote’s net worth has reduced drastically compared to 2014 Forbes list.

Back then, he ranked as the 23rd richest man in the world; however, he now ranks north of #100.

The fall of Nigeria’s economy and inflation in the country has played a major role in the decline of his net worth.

Although he has lost more than 50% of his net worth, he still remains the richest person in Africa.

People know very little about the billionaire’s private life. Nonetheless, we have been able to do some reports about his private life.
