Lorenzo Sanz who was president of Real Madrid from 1995 to 2000 has died at the age of 76 after contracting the deadly coronavirus.
The former president of Europe’s most successful club helped Real Madrid end their 32-year long drought in the European Cup in 1998.
Lorenzo was the father-in-law of former Real Madrid defender Michel Salgado, who married Sanz’s daughter Malula.
Lorenzo San Duran, who is a son to the late Real Madrid president took to Twitter to announce the sad loss of his father, which he described as undeserved.
“My father has just died,” Lorenzo San Duran wrote.
“He did not deserve this end in this manner. One of the best, most courageous and hard-working people I have seen in my life. His family and Real Madrid were his passion.”
