A 43-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping his 3-year-old daughter while his wife was in labour.

The man identified as Mr Ikechukwu Ekenta from Ikeduru-Ogwah, Mbaitolu Local Government Area of Imo state.

Mr Ikechukwu had allegedly raped his daughter, Kamsiyochukwu Ekenta, 3, on the 28th of April, 2020, the same day her mother, his wife, gave birth.

Recounting her ordeal, Kamsimyochukwu said “her daddy put his ‘komkom’ (Penis) inside her private part while she was sleeping, only to be woken by a sharp pain.

Mr Ikechukwu who did not deny the accusation said it was an evil spirit that led him to do that.

Speaking at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Center, Awka, said whenever the spirit came, he will start acting abnormal and that very day.

According to him, he used his finger to defile the girl when the evil urge came.

Speaking, the mother of the girl, Mrs Uzoamaka Ekenta, said she noticed the daughter felt a sharp while bathing her and on enquiry, learned that her spouse had defiled their baby.

Mrs Ekenta said she then asked her husband what happened and he confessed to his evil act.

Thereafter, she took the girl to the hospital. There it was discovered that he used his penis as opposed to his fingers which he claimed to have used.

Mrs Uzoamaka also noted that she complained to husband’s parents. But they threatened to deal with her if she dares to mention it to anybody.

Fortunately, a whistle blower came to her aid last saturday and reported the incident.

The Commissioner For Women And Children Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue, expressed her displeasure about the case.

She also noted that the child is still in pain.

Ndidi said that on getting the information from the whistleblower, they hurried to the house of the rapist at 33 area near Onitsha.

They apprehended him with the help of the men of the Department of State Services, stating that he will face the full weight of the law.
