When other top four contenders had a busy January strengthening their team, Chelsea made no signing.
This is coming despite successfully appealing the 2 window transfer ban that was earlier imposed on them by FIFA.
Frank Lampard is clearly upset by the lack of activities by Chelsea hierarchy despite repeatedly demanding for transfers.
The Blues boss thinks his sides are now underdogs, considering Tottenham and Manchester United spent heavily in the window to strengthen their respective clubs.
The latter signed Nigeria’s very own Odion Ighalo and Portuguese international, Bruno Fernandez.
“Teams have strengthened around us. From my view, and this is not to talk ourselves down, because we’re six points clear in fourth, now we become probably the underdogs and the outsiders to some point,” Lampard said.
Chelsea have been in a roller-coaster form this past few weeks, and it’s only because other teams below them have been poor as well.
However, now that all of those teams have strengthened, it remains to be seen how things turn out for the rest of the season.
Frank Lampard’s team currently sit in 4th position, with Manchester United, Tottenham and Sheffield United not too far off.
