This guide explains how to share data on Airtel Nigeria by dialing a simple code on your mobile phone.

Instead of buying separate subscription for yourself and your loved ones, you can simply share your current plan with them.

The feature that makes this possible is called Airtel Data Pack.

At the moment, accessing the internet on a regular basis is almost like a basic necessity. People need to keep track of several things, including social accounts, bank transactions, news from around the world and more.

With data sharing, you can help your loved ones stay connected even when they run out of data.

Take note: You cannot share Airtel data with another network; you can only share with users on the same network as you.

How data sharing works

Once you add numbers to your data sharing list, they’ll begin to use the same subscription as you. This is different from transferring a certain amount of Megabytes (MB) to them. On data sharing, it’s like you are both subscribed to the same plan.

So long as you keep that number in your list, whenever you subscribe to a new data plan that person too can access the internet on his or her separate device.

How to Share Data on Airtel

  • Send “Add [Phone Number]” to 121. That is, “Add” leave a space “Phone number” and message it to 121.
  • You will receive a message asking you to confirm sharing, reply that message with “1” to confirm (without quotes).

To make things clear, if I want to share my data with someone who uses the phone number 08012345678, then I’ll send the message “Add 08012345678” to 121. Afterwards, I’ll reply with “1” to confirm.

After completing the above steps, you’ll receive a message confirming that the number has been added to your data sharing list.

That number will continue to be there till you decide to remove it.

Finally, you can only have up to a maximum of 4 numbers in your data sharing list. To put it differently, only 4 people can use the same subscription at a time. Nevertheless, I find the whole concept absolutely amazing.
