How to open a GTB account using your mobile phone:

Dial *737# using your mobile device.
Select ‘Next’ to display the option for account opening.
Select open account
Choose whether to open your account using your existing BVN details or you want to supply new details.

If you complete the above steps without mistakes, you’ll receive an SMS containing your 10 digit NUBAN (account number). Sometimes it might take up to 2 days to receive your account number.

However, there may certain restrictions placed on your account until you visit a GTBank branch near you to submit some documents.

How to open GTBank account online:

Step #1. Visit GTBank account opening portal using https://ao.gtbank.com/aowe/start

You can do that using either your mobile phone or your computer. But the view is much better when you visit the portal using a computer.

Step #2. Choose whether you wish to open a personal account or a business account.

Afterwards, the site will take you to the account opening engine, where you can complete other necessary steps.

Step #3. Choose whether you wish to open a new account or an additional account.

If you’re opening an additional account, you may not need to provide too many information; just your previous NUBAN and your BVN will be sufficient for the engine to extract other information about you.

But if you’re opening an account with GTBank for the very first time, then you need to choose open new account.

Thereafter, you’ll be asked to indicate if you’re opening the account for yourself or for your child / ward.

If you’re interested in opening an account for your Kid, GTB has only one account type available: Smart Kids Save (SKS).

If you are, however, interested in opening an account for yourself, then there are four options available. They are:

Savings (Tier 1)
Savings (Tier 2/Tier3)

In the event that you’re not certain about the account type you wish to open, then you might have to visit customer service or contact GTBank customer care online to get a clearer picture on how each of them works.

After choosing your account type, enter your BVN to validate the account. In a case whereby you don’t have a BVN, enter 0 in the space provided on the site.

If, prior to now, you had an account with another bank and a BVN, then your BVN will be used to extract certain information regarding your account so you don’t have to enter them manually.

You might have to provide the following information to complete your account opening request:

Full name (Surname, First name, Middle name).
Mobile number
Email Address

Following any of the steps above, you will receive your account number without going to the bank; however, you may not be able to withdraw your funds from that account until you visit the bank to request for a debit card.
