Do you have the ambition of joining the Nigerian Navy but don’t know what to do? If yes, keep reading to discover how to join the Nigerian Navy.

The Nigerian Navy is an offshoot of the Nigerian Armed Forces. The military body boasts thousands of personnel, placing it among the largest in Africa.

Basically, the navy needs to replace retiring and deceased personnel. Needless to say, this provides a huge opportunity for anyone with the dream of one day becoming a naval officer or recruit.

However, there are 2 different forms of recruitment exercises, and they come with varying requirements.

To put it simply, the process university graduates follow to join the navy is different from that of OND and O’Level certificate holders.

Therefore, you need to know the one you’re eligible to apply for and when to apply.

How to join the Nigerian navy as a university graduate

If you’re a university graduate, the only way you can join the Nigerian navy is by applying through DSSC (Direct Short Service Commission). Towards the ending part of every year, the portal opens for interested candidates to apply.

  • Wait till you are shortlisted and thereafter;
  • Go for screening

If you are able to perform very well in your aptitude test and screening, you’ll stand a good chance of selection.

How to join the Nigerian Navy with either O’Level, OND or NCE Certificate

O’Level, OND and NCE holders cannot apply to join the Nigerian navy through DSSC. However, there’s an annual recruitment exercise that meets their needs.

To join up as an OND, NCE or O’Level (secondary school certificate) holder:

Not so easy, is it?

It is significant to note that joining the Nigerian navy is not very easy. A lot of people aspire for that and end up never getting it as a consequence of the serious competition.

Notwithstanding, if you’re determined and you do exceptionally well in your aptitude test and screening, then, you may end up becoming one of Nigeria’s naval officer or recruit in future.

Goodluck.
