The Kano State Government has announced the sacking of the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II.
After the removal of Sanusi, A team of security operatives stormed the palace of the Emir of Kano in Kano State.
The team of security personnel present included men of the Nigeria Police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
The announcement of Sanusi’s removal was made by the Secretary to the State Government, Usman Alhaji, during the State Executive Council meeting held at the Government House in Kano.
According to Usman Alhaji, the decision to remove the traditional ruler was due to his alleged constant unwillingness to heed to instructions given to him by the state government.
The Emir’s removal is coming just one week after the Kano State Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission had summoned the Emir.
He was being called upon so he would respond to a petition in which he was accused of selling lands worth around ₦2 billion belonging to the Kano Emirate.
Sanusi, however, secured a restraining order from a court to halt the commission from investigating him.
