Hollywood legend Kirk Douglas who died on the 5th of February 2020, reportedly donated almost his entire fortune to charity.
He was worth an estimated $61 million, which is equivalent to ₦22.2 billion.
Kirk Douglas who died at the age of 103, is known for his devotion to philanthropy. Even after his death, that legacy will live on.
He himself suffered an impoverished childhood with immigrant parents and six sisters.
According to the Mirror, $50m from his fortune will be distributed through the Douglas Foundation which aims to “help those who cannot otherwise help themselves”.
The beneficiaries include underprivileged students, the Kirk and Anne Douglas Childhood Center Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, among others.
Meanwhile, it is not clear what the remaining $11 will be used for.
However, reports confirm that the late Hollywood icon left absolutely nothing to his beloved son Michael Douglas. Not that he needs it anyway, as he’s worth roughly $300.
“Let me end with the words I told him on his last birthday and which will always remain true. Dad – I love you so much and I am so proud to be your son,” Michael Douglas said about his father when he broke the news of his passing.
Born on December 9, 1916, Kirk Douglas made his film debut in The Strange Love of Martha Ivers (1946).
