Observation and Final Thoughts

As can be observed from the table above, all the states are dominated by the two major political parties in Nigeria namely All Progressive Congress (APC) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The exceptions, however, are Anambra, Abia, and Kano States where the present government was elected in via the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Labour Party (LP), and New Nigerian People Party (NNPP) respectively.

In summary:

The current party affiliation of the 36 state governors is:

  • 20 All Progressive Congress (APC)
  • 13 People’s Democratic Party (PDP)
  • 1 All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)
  • 1 Labour Party (LP)
  • 1 New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP)

Also noticeable is the fact that APC is predominant in the North Eastern and North Western regions of Nigeria while PDP is predominant in the Southern regions.

How to Check JAMB UTME 2023 Result on Phone

Are you interested in checking your JAMB result on your phone? There are several ways to do that. In this post, I’ll explain two ways you can easily and quickly check your JAMB UTME score using your mobile phone.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) conducts the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) every year.

After sitting for your exams, it is pertinent to check your score on the JAMB result-checking portal to know if you meet the cutoff mark for admission into your preferred institution.

Checking JAMB results using a mobile phone is one of the fastest ways to know your score since nearly everyone has access to a mobile device in Nigeria.

How to JAMB 2023 results by SMS on your phone

Before we commence, make sure you have a minimum of N50 balance on your phone. In addition, you must carry out the following guide using the same phone number registered with your JAMB UTME profile.

That said, if you wish to easily and quickly receive your JAMB score via SMS, below are the steps to follow:

Step 1: Launch your phone Messaging app and select the option to create a new message.

Step 2: Type the message UTMERESULT and send it to 55019 or 66019.

Step 3: Wait for a response from JAMB. The response will contain your JAMB score.

You should receive a message shortly after containing your result status and/or score.

If you get a message saying, ‘This phone number was not used for registration,” then it means that is not the phone number registered with your JAMB profile.

NOTE: Although the message response comes instantly in most cases, if you don’t get a response early enough, wait for at least 30 minutes or 1 hour before trying again. This will prevent you from getting debited more than once.

How to check JAMB results on the result-checker website using your phone

To carry out the next steps, you must ensure your phone is a smartphone and has a good internet connection.

Step 1: Open your mobile browser. The Chrome browser is my most recommended.

Step 3: Enter the email address and password you used in creating your JAMB profile and then tap on login.

Make sure to select the correct examination year or else it will not work.

Ekweremadu Sentenced to Ten Years in Prison in the UK? | Fact Check

  • The Internet is awash with rumors that a former deputy senate president of Nigeria, Ike Ekweremadu has been sentenced to 10 years in Prison in the UK.
  • Ekweremadu is currently trending on Twitter and Facebook with many such claims.
  • The beleaguered senator was arrested in the UK after he was implicated in an organ trafficking plot.

One of the hottest discussions on social media right now is about a Nigerian Senator, Ike Ekweremadu. Several reports recently surfaced claiming he was sentenced to 10 years in prison in the UK after he was found guilty of organ trafficking.

In a viral post, a Twitterer, Omotayo Williams, wrote saying, “News going round[sic] suggest Former Dep. Senate President, Sen. Ike Ekweremadu has been sentenced to 10 years in UK prison.”

Has Ekweremadu been sentenced to ten years in Prison in the UK?

Indeed, the former deputy senate president, was, on March 23, convicted for illegally luring a young man into the United Kingdom with a view of using him as a donor to his sick daughter who desperately needed a kidney transplant.

Under the Modern Slavery Act, the crime Ekwerwmadu has been convicted of will attract 10-12 years imprisonment. However, the sentencing is scheduled to take place on the 5th of March, 2023.

Besides, all the reports circulating online do not cite any credible source, like the BBC, which has followed and reported the story since the news emerged.

There’s no way a high-ranking senator in Nigeria would be sentenced to 10 years in prison and no UK tabloid would report the story.

Meanwhile, several high-ranking Nigerians have reached out to the UK to temper justice with mercy.

It remains to be seen if there would be any form of clemency for the embattled senator and his coconspirators.

It’s best not to get ahead as we await a judgment from the UK court.

VERDICT: False. Ekweremadu has not been sentenced to ten years in Prison, yet.

How to Check JAMB UTME 2023 Result online or by SMS

After successfully sitting for the JAMB UTME 2023, the next thing is to check your result. In this post, I’ll explain how you can check your JAMB UTME 2023 result online or via SMS. Note that you can use your phone to check your UTME result using both methods.

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) conducts the most popular university, polytechnic, and COE entrance examinations in Nigeria.

If you’re among the students who sat for the 2023 Unified Matriculation Exams (UTME), then you can check for your result online.

Alternatively, you can check your result by sending an SMS to a code we’ll be sharing with you soon. After which, you’ll get a notification (in the form of an SMS) containing your score.

The use of SMS is one of the fastest options for most users, as you do not require an internet connection, and will not face any issues as a result of JAMB website server congestions.

Is JAMB 2023 Result Out?

Yes. As of when this post was updated, you can check your results via SMS or online.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has declared that the results of the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will be made available starting from May 2, 2023, according to a statement released by JAMB spokesperson Dr Fabian Benjamin. He made the announcement after an emergency management meeting held in Abuja over the weekend.

JAMB stated that the delay in releasing the results was due to the need to complete all necessary screenings and determine reasonable mean and standard deviation values before releasing the results to the public.

Meanwhile, JAMB has revealed that certain candidates who had difficulties during the exam will be able to retake it on May 6, 2023, under close supervision. These candidates include those who were unable to take the test despite being authenticated at their centers, those who were unable to undergo biometric verification, and those with inconsistent data.

How to Check JAMB 2023 Result by SMS

Before we commence, make sure to have a minimum of 50 naira in your phone number. Without that, you won’t be able to check your UTME result by SMS. The network will charge for checking your result via SMS is N50 only.

If you do, follow the steps below to check your UTME result via SMS:

  • Using the phone number you registered with JAMB, send the message “UTMERESULT” to 55019 or 66019.
  • You will receive a message confirming the deduction of 50 naira from your credit.
  • Wait for a few minutes for JAMB to send your result to your phone number in the form of an SMS.

A lot of candidates have complained that they failed to receive any message after following the above steps. If that’s the case for you, then you have to try again some other time or day. The reason is, the number of queries for results is really high, which may as a consequence lead to network congestion.

But make sure not to send the result checking SMS more than once within the space of a few minutes, so as not to waste your money.

How to Check JAMB 2023 Result Online

Follow the steps below to check your 2023 UTME result on the JAMB facility website. Note that you will need to pay the sum of N1,500, as this prints your original result and not just the statement.

Step 1. Visit the official result-checking portal here or enter the address https://efacility.jamb.gov.ng/ on your browser.

Step 2. Type in the email address and password you used during registration and click on login.

login to JAMB portal to check results

Step 3. Click on “Print Result Slip” after you’re logged in to the JAMB eFacility portal.

JAMB UTME 2023 result checking portal

Step 4: Select your desired payment option to proceed to checking and printing your result slip. You can use Remita or an ATM Card to make the payment.

Step 5: Select your “Examination year” which is “2023 UTME” and proceed to print your JAMB result slip.

You can complete the above steps using a mobile phone and any compatible mobile browser. However, it is advisable that you use a computer so that you’ll be able to print or save the page for printing.

If you have no experience with all this and you’re not too good at using the internet, all you have to do is visit any cyber cafe near you.

Alternatively, ask a friend or any of your relatives who’s more conversant with the use of the internet.

The reason we used the method above instead of the regular result-checking method is that this works even if the result-checking portal is facing congestion.

What you should know about UTME 2023

According to a statement from JAMB registrar: “the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board released the results of 1,792,719 candidates who sat for the 2023 UTME, while the results of 34,120 candidates were withheld due to various infractions.

If you sent the message “RESULT” to 55019 and didn’t receive any feedback, it is not necessarily an indication that your result was withheld. As we’ve earlier indicated, the network may be congested at that moment; try again some other time.

After checking your result, and you have performed up to the cut off mark, the next thing to do is to wait till admission is processed on CAPS.
