- Mino Raiola says Paul Pogba could leave Manchester United if United do not finish in the top four
- He stated that Juventus is the player’s fancied destination
Manchester United midfielder, Paul Pogba may leave United if the club does not finish in top four this season, says Mino Raiola, his agent.
Following Man Utd poor poor performance in the premier league in recent years, finishing top four has become a huge task.
If the Red Devils do not qualify for next season’s UCL, it will be two years in a row that they have missed out on the competition.
According to reports, this is not going down well with Paul Pogba’s agent. He has just hinted that Pogba could leave the club if they do not qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Speaking to Italian media, Raiola said, ‘ It would be bull for me not to admit Paul wants to stay at the highest level.’
“He never lost his smile, but clearly a great player doesn’t go to Manchester United only to not challenge for the Champions League or the Premier League title.
Moreover, he said “But Pogba will first and foremost try to give his best and then we’ll see at the end of the season if he ought to remain or not.
Pogba has been linked with moves to Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.
However, the Raiola affirmed that no decision will be made until after this summer’s European Championship.
In any case, the midfielder has featured in only eight games for the North London side this season; he’s had an injury-filled campaign so far.
However, it looks like he will be joining his team soon. He took to his Instagram page to post videos of himself training four weeks after his ankle surgery.
In another Instagram video, he also shared footage of himself running and swimming.
According to Sportsmail, he is keen on playing with United to the end of the season and will probably feature in next month’s Manchester derby on March 8.
Before this recent injury, Pogba and his agent mentioned that the player desires to leave Old Trafford for a ‘new challenge’.
Subsequently, Raiola has made further comments criticising the club.
He at one time referred to Manchester United as a club “out of touch with reality” and one which would “ruin the careers of [Diego] Maradona, Pele and [Paolo] Maldini.”
Raiola said: “I talk to Juventus and their vice-chairman Pavel Nedved about many things, including about Pogba and other players, as is only right for a big club.
“You need to get information, see what’s happening, put down a few hypotheses, dream a little’ he said.
The Italian added: “Along with Juventus, there are other clubs in for Paul, but right now he is with Manchester United.
“What I can say is that, just like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul considers Italy to be his second home and he wouldn’t mind returning to Juventus, but we’ll talk about it after Euro 2020.
There’s nothing impossible in the transfer market, that has already been proved by Juve, PSG and Real Madrid. The achievement of impossible things is part of this business.’
Meanwhile, United currently occupy the ninth position on the EPL table and are faced with a significant trip to Stanford Bridge on Monday.
However, they have been handed a major boost since Manchester City were banned from UEFA competitions for two years.
If UEFA upholds the ban, then the fifth-place team in the Premier League will qualify for UEFA competition.
