The National Open University of Nigeria, also known as NOUN, contains a total of 36 courses based on the 2019 JAMB Brochure. Keep reading to discover the names of those programmes, their requirements, plus how you can apply to study any of them.
The National Open University of Nigeria is the first Open and Distance Learning (ODL) institution in West Africa. According to several reports, the NOUN boasts the highest number of students when compared to other universities in Nigeria.
The institution was originally established on 22 July 1983. However, It was suspended by the government on 25 April 1984.
After more than 15 years of its suspension, moves to resuscitate it began on 12 April 2001 by then-President of Nigeria, Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo.
When the institution commenced, it boasted pioneer students of more than 30,000, which is an incredible feat, considering how foreign the concept of ODL was to many Nigerians.
If you wish to study at the National Open Unversity of Nigeria, the first and most important step to take is to know the courses you can apply for.
