Nigerian Army says it has arrested two the soldiers who made threats to rape and infect women in Warri, Delta State, with HIV.

They want to do that in to retaliate the alleged killing of their colleague on Thursday April 2nd, 2020.

Recall that NaijaHomeBased reported that youths of Ugbuwangue community in Warri, Delta state attacked soldiers after one of them allegedly killed a youth leader, Joseph Pessu.

The soldier reportedly killed Joseph while enforcing the stay at home order of the state government.

In response to the purported killing of their colleague, some soldiers made a video in anger.

In the video, they threatened to rape the mothers, wives and daughters of the youths and infect them with HIV.

Speaking in pidgin, one of the soldiers said

““Warri people, una don buy job o. Una kill soldier ba? Your mothers, I will make sure I f..k your mothers skin to skin without condom.  

“I will make sure she carry HIV, your daughters will carry HIV, your wives will carry HIV. You get mind to kill soldier ba? Dan ubanku, ” he added.  

In reaction to the viral video, the Nigerian Army released a statement, here it disclosed that the men were arrested at 9 Brigade, Ikeja Military Cantonment, Lagos.

Nigerian Army’s statement

“Soldiers in a viral video using uncouth and uncivilised language purportedly threatening to molest women in Warri, Delta State, were arrested at 9 Brigade, Ikeja Military Cantonment, Lagos State, today 3 April, 2020 and further investigation is ongoing,” The Nigerian Army wrote.. 

The general public should be assured that the investigations will be swift and fair in accordance with applicable military laws. 

“The outcome of the investigations will determine the most appropriate disciplinary measures that can be taken in the circumstances.

“The Nigerian Army wishes to reiterate that it would not tolerate any form of irresponsibility and indiscipline on the part of any of its personnel, ” he added.
