Manchester United’s latest signing, Nigeria’s Odion Ighalo has scored his first goal for the Manchester side.
In fact, social media has been buzzing since yesterday as Nigerians have taken to different social media platforms to celebrate their countryman who netted his first goal for his dream club.
Ighalo who played for just five minutes in his debut game which was against Chelsea, could not do much that day.
In any case, this is a dream come true for Ighalo who confessed he has been a fan of the club he just scored for since his childhood.
But in the second leg Europa League clash against Club Brugge on Thursday night, Ighalo found the net. Scoring the second goal for his club.
The striker who had earlier mentioned that he will be dedicating his goals to his late sister was seen raising his jersey up while celebrating his goal.
Ighalo lost his sister, Mary Atole, in the month of December of 2019.
His raised jersey revealed an undershirt with a photo of his sister on it. After the match, he told MUTV that the T-shirt is for his sister.
He said, “I lost my sister in December, and she is very dear to me, she is a good United fan.”
He went on to state that they had hoped for this moment, however, she is not here to see him.
” We hoped for this moment, but now I am in United, she is not here to see what is going on.”
“So it is a bit emotional for me, so I promise myself that every goal I score, I will dedicate it to her.”
“She is up there watching me and doing well for United.”
In any case, Some comments on twitter show how Nigerians have welcomed this news and are nothing short of overjoyed about it.
