The governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
He is the third governor in Nigeria to have tested positive to the deadly virus after Governor of Bauchi state, Bala Mohammed and Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state both tested positive to the virus.
He took to social media to make this announcement.
He wrote, “I just received my Covid-19 confirmation test result. It is POSITIVE. I asymptomatic and will continue to self-isolate.
I have designated Prof Temitope Alonge, former Chief Medical Director of the University College, Ibadan as the head of the Covid-19 Task Force while I recover fully.
“Please continue to comply with all he directives from the Covid-19 Task Force. Stay home, stay safe.
