How to Pay (Renew) DStv Subscription Online Or Using USSD

Published on

You can now pay for DStv subscription by dialing a code on your phone, via your banking app or on the official website of DStv.

As a matter of fact, Africa’s leading Cable TV provider has improved several services; the ease with which customers can renew their subscription is one such improvement.

In the past subscribers had to visit Multichoice service centres whenever they needed to pay their cable TV bills. But right now things are different. You can now pay for your subscription without leaving your house.

However, a lot of people who aren’t used to technology and technical matters avoid using these services. Bearing that in mind, we have decided to make our guide as simplistic as possible.

Even if a Multichoice / DStv office is your next-door neighbour, it is still very much easier to pay by yourself.

The reason is, the queue in those offices can be too much sometimes, which can lead to unnecessary waste of time.

Important notice: Before initiating and completing payment for your DStv subscription, make sure your decoder is turned on. That way the servers will propagate your payment information faster.

How to Pay for DStv Subscription Using USSD banking code

  • Dial the USSD banking code for your bank (The code varies from bank to bank. For GTBank it’s 737).
  • Select the option that says Pay for Cable TV
  • From the list of Cable TV providers, select DStv.
  • Choose the DStv Package/bouquet you wish to pay for
  • Enter your Smart Card number
  • Confirm your transaction using your USSD banking PIN.

Using the options above is only possible if you’ve registered for USSD banking. If you don’t know the USSD code for making transactions for your bank, all you have to do is make a simple Google search.

Take note, however, that paying for your DStv subscription using USSD banking will attract a fee of 100 Nigerian Naira.

In other words, if you wish to pay for Access, which is supposed to cost 1,900 naira, you’ll end up paying 2000 naira. The additional 100 naira is your bank charge.
