The Special Adviser Media and Publicity to Buhari, Femi Adesina, has come out to debunk claims that Buhari was attacked in Kebbi.

In the video that made rounds on the web, a man dashed towards the president of Nigeria, in what looked like he raised his right arm to hit him. However, another version of the story has evolved.

Popular social media personality @Segalink published the video on Twitter with the caption, “that was close”.

Meanwhile, Femi Adesina has revealed that the excited man only wanted to greet the president, which the security guards would never have allowed.

“As the President went around the arena to inspect rice pyramids on display and take photographs with farmers, a young man was so very excited to see his President so close. He made an attempt to get to him,” Femi Adesina wrote.

He continued, “World over, such would not be allowed by security details. The young man was prevented, and he protested that he should be allowed to greet his President. Now, professional contortionists are making mischief of the event. They are passing the video clip off on social media as an attempt to attack the President.

“Malicious people always twist things to give a negative narrative. But they simply dash their heads against the wall. The country moves on,” he added.
