8 Must-Have Qualities That Will Help You Earn More From Blogging

Published on

I’m sure you want to earn more from your blog.

You can achieve that…

But first, you must develop a few qualities that will help you standout and turn you into an authority in your niche.

At some point, almost every blogger’s revenue reaches a standstill.

It’ll be as if no mater what you do, your blog income can’t go past a certain limit.

$100 a day is not bad idea.

In fact, it’s a dream figure for most beginners; however, that shouldn’t be your limit.

Your blog can do way, way better than that if you’re willing to develop all the qualities necessary; those same qualities common to the most successful bloggers around the world.

If you started a blog and you really want to be successful, then you must study the most successful bloggers around.

The most successful bloggers in the world have a lot of similarities.

After carrying out a research, we were able to map out eight qualities common to the most successful bloggers and how to develop them.

There’s so much competition right now in blog niches that were less competitive a couple of years back.

There are millions of websites with a lot of similarities in the information they publish.

If you make a simple Google search on any term already in existence you will get tons of results.

Now, how do you stand out among those numerous blogs publishing the same articles?

It’s easy…

If you you really want to earn more from your blog, here are a few qualities you must develop:

1. Improve on your writing skills

The most successful bloggers are all good writers.

It is a must have quality if you are serious about having a successful blogging career.

A good writer is able to publish his ideas to the world without stress.

What if you are not a good writer?

If you are currently not able to write properly in your primary language, don’t feel discouraged, just keep trying. Improvement comes with practice.

The first thing you must do if you want to become a good writer is to read a lot of quality articles.

The more you read, the more you learn.

I know there’s limited time, so you might be interested in publishing a few articles during your learning period.

That’s why I recommend you make use of grammar and spell checkers in order to help you reduce the amount of spelling or grammatical errors in your writeup.

Also, you could have one of your friends review your articles before you publish it to the world. Any friend of yours you know is a better writer than you are.

I believe you must have at least one or two friends who could help you with free proofreading.

If you do not have a friend who can help you proofread your articles, then, you may have to make use of the services of freelancers.

They offer very cheap proofreading.

Some even promise proofreading of up to 3000 words for just $5 to $10.

Whatever you do, do not publish very poor articles to the world. Let your worst article be at least readable.

2. Become a better communicator

quallity of successful bloggers: good communicator

Have you noticed a successful blogger who isn’t a good communicator? I guess not. Good communication is the best way to blog.

A good communicator is a person who is able to share an idea in the easiest possible way. To do this, you must understand your audience and choose your use of vocabularies wisely.

A lot of writers mistake the art of good copywriting to being able to use vocabularies that are nonpareil, which is not true.

Your readers shouldn’t have to check their dictionaries after every sentence to understand the terms used in your writeup.

How to become a good communicator

Work on clarity:

The clarity of your article is the most important thing. The main Ideas of your writeup must be known after one or two paragraphs.

Be specific:

There’s no point randomizing the main ideas of your writeup. If you digress too much from your topic of discussion, your readers will get distracted and end up getting confused about your whole article

Be a good listener:

For you to be a good communicator, then you must be a good listener; you must pay attention to your audience; that’s the only way you can get to discover their real needs.

3. Be patient

quality of successful bloggers: patience

Most of the successful bloggers started out in a small way; they were not sure how things would turn out to be. However, they were patient enough and kept working.

According to Harsh Agrawal of ShoutMeLoud, he started his blog with no plans to immediately make money with it. And the first money he actually made online was helping another person resolve an issue on his website.

A lot of people go around with the notion that blogging is a “quickly make money online” scheme. That is, however, not true.

To make a substantial amount of money from your blog demands patience and hard work.

You must work on publishing a lot of quality article before you can stand a chance of getting noticed by search engines.

If you are not patient enough, you might end up getting discouraged when things don’t go as planned.

Or worse, you may end up quitting and giving up your blogging career.

4. Generate smart ideas

qualities of successful bloggers: creativity

Creativity is one of the most important blogging quality every new blogger must possess. There’s vitually no question that hasn’t got an answer in Google. So how do you get noticed with a new blog?

You must be able to think outside the box, in order to come up with ideas that are nonexistent or is able to beat the ones that are currently in existence.

Maybe, it would have been a lot easier if you had started out in 2005. In the days when a teenager, Pete Cashmore from his home in Aberdeen, Scotland, started the global multi-platform media and entertainment company, Marshable.

How to improve your creativity:

I stumbled upon an article by Larry Kim on inc that talked about how to improve one’s creativity.

Colaborate:

He said, whenever he wasn’t sure what to do next, he would read a lot or talk to other experts.

Sometimes, Ideas don’t come on their own. It demands studying from others and listening to others talk.

Empty your mind:

Sometimes, the greatest limitation to creativity is what the mind already has programmed. To get this huge limitation off your mind means emptying it from premeditated things.

Be unrealistic:

An unrealistic thing is something that is currently nonexistent. People don’t believe it is possible to achieve. Creativity demands aiming to achieve unrealistic things.

5. Become a social icon

qualities of successful bloggers: socially active

I have also noticed that the most successful bloggers are socially active.

They have all built for themselves a good social media presence in some of the world’s most popular social platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.

There is so much the social media has to offer.

A report on the telegraph shows that an average person has 5 social media accounts and spends at least 1 hour, 40 minutes, daily, browsing on those social media accounts.

You must be able to engage with people in the outside world. You learn a lot from interaction.

Thank God for the internet. You can become social right from your room. You can connect with millions of people on popular social networks.

The social media is a nice place to grow a new blog. It starts from interacting with people who share the same ambitions with you.

Also, you need to interact with your target audience. That’s how you can get them to notice you in the first place.

6. Develop a good sense of humor

qualities of successful bloggers: good sense of humor

All the successful bloggers in the world have a good sense of humor. You feel connected to them when you read their writeup.

As a blogger, you don’t have to always sound so serious.

A good sense of humor will help your audience feel connected to you always.

How to develop a good sense of humor

If you want to develop a good sense of humor and interact perfectly with your audience, then you must be able to keep aside any form of hurt or disappointment you are currently facing.

Your writeup is reflective of your mood. When you work in a good mood there’s an aura that’s emitted.

People feel connected to you.

Also, when you work in a bad mood your delivery becomes greatly affected.

7. Become a leader in your niche

qualities of successful bloggers: leadership traits

Google loves authority websites; sites that have covered all or a great deal of the important topics in a niche.

Furthermore, become a leader in your niche will help you get loyal readers.

How do you become a leader in your niche?

Consciously or subconsciously, when you become a blogger you also become a leader.

People listen to you and their lives are, somehow, impacted by the things you say.

Having that in mind, you must start working on developing all the leadership traits the necessary to succeed.

People will reach out to you with questions regarding your blog niche. You must never sound clueless. You must always have an answer to provide for every question asked.

8. Become a better typist

quality of successful bloggers: fast typist

I’ve watched a few tutorial videos by some of the most successful tech bloggers in the world.

I noticed that whenever they typed, their speed was exceptional.

This is more like a skill and not a quality. But I, however, now consider it important for every blogger to possess a good typing speed.

In this world of ours, there’s no room for time-wasting. A decent typing speed starts from around 40 WPM ( words per minute). However, you must work on a speed much high than that. let’s say, 60-70 WPM.

Reason you must have a very good typing speed is that it increases your productivity, delivery speed and gives you an edge.

If you are working on publishing maybe a breaking news, you don’t have to work for hours before hitting the publish button.

The faster you publish a breaking news, the greater your chances of driving more traffic to your site through that publication.

How to develop a good typing speed

There are many software that can help you develop a good typing speed.

The one that keeps ringing in my memory is the Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing.

I remember years back, when I used to enjoy playing ‘Chameleon Picnic’ on my old desktop computer.

Although i was playing it for fun, i ended up developing a very fast typing speed.

Now I type at around 70 WPM (words per minute). And am still looking to improve on it.

Get a software that teaches typing (I recommend Mavis Beacon). It will help you learn the basics of typing at least.

Becoming an advanced typist starts from learning the proper placement of fingers. Once you are able to place your fingers properly, then you can move on to your normal work.

Involving in a daily typing routine will help you build an incredible typing speed and accuracy.

If you work on developing all the above quality, you will surely standout as a blogger and become a successful blogger yourself.

I hope with this guide you’re able to develop all the skills and qualities required to earn more from your blog.
