Reno Omokri Reveals How to Marry a Woman without paying bride price

Popular Nigerian writer and activist, Reno Omokri, has some piece of advice for men who are finding it difficult to tie the knot with the love of their lives. According to him, the easiest way out is by going to the marriage registry.

In Nigeria, especially the south eastern part, the cost of getting married is very expensive. Consequently, average earners may enter into debt for the sake of getting married.

However, Reno doesn’t think it’s nice for people to spend beyond their budget simply because they want to get married.

“If you want to marry and the girl’s family give you a long list of things to provide before you can marry, just go to the nearest marriage registry and marry inexpensively.

“If she refuses, perhaps she is not the one. Marry according to your pocket,” he wrote.

Well, by going to the marriage registry, a man doesn’t have to pay any bride price. However, that is scarcely done in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, many Nigerians may end up marrying the same woman three times. In other words, they do the traditional, marry her in the church/mosque and then end up still going to the registry to make it valid, except in cases where the churches/mosques are authorized by law to register marriages.
