Paraguayan prosecutors have freed Brazil football legend, Ronaldinho, who was arrested yesterday.

After his arrest, The footballer admitted to being guilty of entering Paraguay with a fake passport.

The former Barcelona superstar and his brother who also happens to be his business manager, Roberto de Assis entered Paraguay on Wednesday with fake passports bearing their names with Paraguayan nationality.

Both of them were arrested and detained in the Resort Yacht & Golf Club Paraguayo. Afterwards, the duo was later questioned by law enforcement officials.

The Ministry of Interior of Paraguay, Euclides Acevedo confirmed the report. He told local radio station AM 1080 that “Mr Ronaldinho has a false passport.”

Speaking about the arrest, Paraguay’s interior minister, Euclides Acevedo told local radio station AM 1080 that “Mr Ronaldinho has a false passport.”

Speaking about the case, Prosecutor Federico Delfino said Ronaldinho and brother realised that they had committed a crime but said they did so ignorantly.

Speaking to reporters in the Paraguayan capital, the prosecutor said that they are looking for an alternative way to go about the issue so that it doesn’t result in a formal accusation.

He said, “We are looking for an alternative way out of this that doesn’t result in a formal accusation and that recognises that these people were, we can say, taken by surprise.”

According to him, Ronaldinho and his brother said the passports were a gift. Also, an inquiry showed that the numbers on the passports corresponded to other people, Delfino added.

However, it is in the hands of the judge to decide the fate. The judge could decide to accept Delfino’s recommendation on Friday.

According to reports from news18, If the judge accepts Delfino’s recommendation, an alternative ruling will be made; perhaps a fine to be given to a local charity.
