The 43-year-old man, who can read and write, seemed to be remorseful about his actions during interrogation.

“I am sorry about my activities, I rape my daughter, I have learnt some lesson, rape is bad,” he wrote on a piece of paper at Igando police station yesterday,” Mr Bakare said.

Taiwo Kasumu, the Divisional police officer said the “matter has been charged to court for prosecution”.

This is among many of the other unethical reports of rape that has been on the rise in Nigeria of recent.

Recall that Nigerians have been protesting against rape after several incidents that cut across different parts of the country.

Of such incidents is the case of Uwaila Vera Omozuwa; who was raped and murdered inside a church in Edo State.

Also, a few days after Vera’s case, Was that of Bello Barakat who was raped and murdered in her fathers house in the afternoon.

A careful look at these cases mentioned above, one would notice that they occurred in places where a lady would consider safe.

However, ‘safe’ wasn’t the case for these ladies as they were raped and murdered in cold blood.
