Well, it appears Mercy Eke’s award as best dressed female at AMVCA7 is causing a lot of controversies. Toyin Lawani had taken to Instagram to state that “All Their Best Dressed” are jokes.
Indeed, an attack on Mercy Eke’s dressing is an attack on her stylist.
Clearly, it didn’t go down well with SwankyJerry, who was responsible for designing the dress Mercy Eke wore. As such, he directed some thinly-veiled dig at his former boss, Toyin Lawani.
“How low can you go sis? Every young creative was busy giving their best last night with the number of people who showed up at the award… and you think you are who?,” Jeremiah Ogbodo wrote.
“Listen to every creative who worked at the AMVCA last night God sees your hard work and he will reward you… keep believing in yourself…. from hairstylist, makeup artist, dressmakers, designers, photographers you all did an amazing job and your work is not a joke… don’t let nobody lie to you…. please sis if you are tired go and rest.“
Apparently, Toyin didn’t take his remarks with a pinch of salt, as she has decided to throw fire for fire. And in her scathing attack, she didn’t spare Nigerians, who according to her misinterpreted her statement.
“People don’t like the truth, so when you speak it they hate you,” she wrote. “Most of y’all are cowards.
She continued, “Today I realized English is a big problem for some people; we all write differently. Nigerians y’all all love to twist things and hate, so if I state my opinion does it mean that mercy’s outfits or mikes outfits are not nice.
“Y’all are jokers like I said and if you don’t know the meaning of joke go and check the dictionary. hiss.
“I usually don’t reply your stupidity and betrayals, even when you stayed online to be mocking and trolling me with your formal bestie I didn’t reply you, I left you to God, but I will reply you this time.
She continued, “That I said the looks they chose are jokes don’t mean they are ugly, the same way everyone is saying my clothes are ugly, and they didn’t get the message some of my clients were trying to pass doesn’t mean it’s not artistic. Did I fight to win best dressed with you people? I don’t compete I do my work and bounce; stars don’t struggle to shine.
“Pls free me, let me air my opinion in peace regardless of who created what and what. Does that mean I have a problem with mercy? You people just try to create enmity daily. Go sit down. Iya e lo tired.
“I SAID WHAT I SAID PERIOD HATE MY WORK ALL YOU LIKE; THE WORLD WHO HAVE BRAIN ARE NOT BLIND,” she added.
Coupled with her lengthy tirade, she shared a video in which she lambasted SwankyJerry:
