The United Nations has appointed Nigerian singer, Innocent “Tuface” Idibia alias 2baba, as its Refugees Goodwill Ambassador. It was announced today, the 23rd of June, 2020.

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) announced this on Tuesday via its official Instagram page.

In a video shared by UNHCR, Tufce said he knows he’s equal to the task. He also promised to raise awareness for those forced to flee from their homes.

“My desire to do something led me to the LuquLuqutribe. The Moment I got involved in the luquLuqutribe, I just knew that this was the right direction for Africa,”2Baba said in the video.

“The LuQuLuQu tribe is borderless. It reaches all corners of the whole continent,” he said.

He also shared shared his experience on one of his visit to an IDP camp in Borno, noting that the experience is quite touching.

The singer also took tom his page to make the announcement. He wrote, “I am honoured and humbled by my new appointment as a regional goodwill ambassador of UNHCR.

“Thanks for the recognition, this will no doubt deepen my commitment to supporting the effort of UNHCR personnel and volunteers who are on ground every day, working hard to provide support and hope to millions of forcefully displaced persons across the world,” he added.
