How to Upload O’level Result on JAMB Portal (WAEC or NECO)

Published on

In this guide, we’ll explain how you can easily upload your O’level — that is WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result — on JAMB CAPS.

Another admission season is underway. And, in order to secure your admission into any Nigerian university, there’s a need to upload your O’level result on the JAMB Central Admission Processing Portal (CAPS).

However, it is important to avoid doing it the wrong way. In light of that, we’ll not only tell you how it’s done, but we’ll also show you how to confirm whether or not you did it properly.

Previously, students could upload the results by themselves or visit any cyber cafe to do it; however, due to the new law, that is no longer possible.

Right now, only JAMB-approved CBT centres have the mandate to effect such changes to students’ profile.

Meanwhile, I hope you have been offered provisional admission to your Nigerian University, Polytechnic or Monotechnics of choice. If you aren’t sure about that, read this guide to confirm it.

After confirming you have been offered admission…

Here are the steps to upload O’level (WAEC or NECO) Result on JAMB Portal:

Step 1. Visit any of the JAMB approved CBT centres along with your O’level print outs. In the event that you don’t have the print outs, then at least go there with the result-checking scratch cards.

Step 2. Provide your login details & print outs to the agents at the CBT centre.

Step 3. Wait patiently as the agent carries out the uploading, providing accurate answers to whatever questions they ask you. Thereafter, wait till you get a confirmation that they have completed the upload.

Step 4. Confirm your upload by logging on to JAMB CAPS and clicking on ‘My O’level’. Alternatively, accept your admission since you’ll be able to do that only after the successful upload of your result.

In case you’re not able to accept your admission as a result of the agent not completing the upload properly, feel free to visit the CBT centre again to lodge a complaint.

Questions you may have and their answers:

How many sittings am I permitted to upload?

According to JAMB, students are permitted to upload up to two sittings. In other words, you can combine up to two O’level results, in the event that one of your result doesn’t meet the minimum requirement for your course.

Can I upload awaiting results?

Apparently, you need to upload results with grades since awaiting results are not accepted for admission. The reason is, the admission process is carried out at the time when NECO, WAEC and NABTEB results are out already.

I passed both WAEC & NECO, so which should I present?

If you have multiple O’level results that meet with the minimum requirement for your course, then you are at liberty to choose whichever you wish to present.

Is it a must to upload original result slips?

NO. Your online print out is good enough. It is not by force to present the original slip.
