Reports reaching us confirm that fire recently razed sections of the house of former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo.
The fire started around 9:30 pm yesterday night at his hose located in Ita-Eke, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Eyewitness accounts claim the fire started as a result of a power surge.
Meanwhile, the nature of the destruction isn’t clear; however, no casualties have been reported so far.
Members of the community reportedly helped the domestic workers to reduce the spread of the fire before Fire Service arrived at the scene of the incident.
Daily Trust quotes Ogun State Director of Fire Service, Fatai Adefala as confirming the incident and saying, “fire only razed a store and not the main building of the president’s compound”.
He furthermore disclosed that officials of the fire service succeeded in putting out the fire after responding to distress calls around 10:00 pm.
