US rapper and songwriter Bashar Barakah Jackson, popularly Pop Smoke, has been shot dead.

According to TMZ, he was killed in an apparent home invasion.

The late rapper was rushed by ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in West Hollywood; however, medical staff pronounced him dead upon his arrival.

So far, there are suspects and it is not clear if Pop Spoke knew his shooters. Police handcuffed a man at the area of the incident and then released him after they determined he wasn’t involved in the crime.

Meanwhile, several celebrities have begun to react to the shocking passing of the rapper.

Nicki Minaj and 50 Cent blamed it on jealousy, insinuating that he might have been murdered by people he knew.

“The Bible tells us that jealousy is as cruel as the grave. Unbelievable. Rest In Peace, Pop,” Nicky Minaj said.

“No such thing as success without jealousy, treachery comes from those who are close. R.i.P” 50 Cent wrote.

“Man Come On I don’t even know dude but he was just getting started in this Rap Game. I was definitely interested in seeing his Growth. Too many young lives with so much potential being taken away. This Shit has to stop R.I.P. Pop Smoke,” Ludacris said.

Pop Smoke was signed to Victor Victor Worldwide and Republic Records. In April 2019, he released the song “Welcome to the Party”, the lead single of his debut mixtape Meet the Woo.
