Nigerian national Identity card (ID card)

If it interests you to know where or how to collect the national ID card in Nigeria, then this is the guide you need.

The national Identity Card (ID Card) is one of the most important piece of documents in Nigeria.

Basically, the application process isn’t complicated; however, card collection has been quite complicated in recent years.

The major reason I used the word ‘complicated’ is because of the number of years applicants have to wait before NIMC sends them notifications telling them it’s ready.

Notwithstanding, the temporary NIN slip you received after completing your enrollment steps is very much useful in all cases and at all times.

But, for the sake that you’re here, I’ll presume that you have received a notification telling it’s ready. As a result, you’re just interested in knowing where you can collect it.

Where to collect your national ID card?

Generally, the collection point is the exact place at which you completed your national ID card enrollment.

Nevertheless, there’s an exception. If you have relocated from the place at which you applied, then you can request that your card be transferred to a new location.

However, the location must be another enrollment centre where you wish to receive it, and not your home address.

There are collection points in almost all the 774 local government areas in Nigeria.

How to collect your national ID card in Nigeria

  • Visit the enrollment centre at which you registered ensuring you carry your temporary NIN slip along with you.
  • Approach the officer there informing them that you wish to collect your ID card.
  • Upon demand from the officers, provide your NIN temporary slip and the notification telling you your card is ready.
  • Carry out all necessary biometrics verification, and activate your card afterwards.

That’s everything regarding ID card collection in Nigeria.
