There were several surprising results over the weekend; one of such was the loss of Manchester City to Tottenham. Jose Mourinho’s team were victorious over Guardiola’s men by 2 goals to nil.

1 goal apiece from Son Heung-min and debutant Steven Bergwijn were enough to see off the visitors.

The result means runaway league leaders Liverpool are now 22 points clear on top.

Afterwards, Guardiola admitted that his team are very far away and that Liverpool are now unstoppable.

He also admitted that his team are now “far away” from the team that won the EPL in 2018 and 2019.

“[Liverpool] are unstoppable with a lot of points, we drop points in games that are quite similar today, even when we play at Anfield,” Guardiola said.

He also admitted that his team will set their target on reaching the Champions League next season.

“Now we target other competitions and to qualify for the Champions League next season.” he continued.

Furthermore, he went on to take a thinly veiled dig at former Executive Chairman of the EPL, who said that someone needed to stop Manchester City from dominating the EPL.

“They said someone has to stop City getting 100 points and winning it again. So now it is Liverpool you have to be concerned with about the Premier League,” he said.

The contention for last season’s EPL title was one of the fiercest the Premier League has ever seen. Liverpool lost the title by a lone point, and Pep admits they are a lot stronger now.
