The loan deal with his Chinese club, Shanghai Shenhua, officially ended on Sunday night.

According to SunSport, a deal to extend his stay in England has not yet been agreed.

The ex-Watford man has made eight appearances for United and scored four goals.

Ighalo had earlier pleaded with Shanghai Shenhua to allow him to finish the season at Old Trafford, before returning to China.

Also, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer indicated his interest in having the 30-year-old stick around till the end of the season.

Ighalo also pleaded with the Chinese club to permit him to finish the season at United

In any case, Ighalo looked carefree as he arrived at Carrington training on Friday.

Shanghai was said to allow him to stay in England till the end of the season; only if he agrees to puts pen to paper on a two-year contract extension with them first.

Shanghai has offered Ighalo a £400,000-a-week deal to stay in the Chinese Super League.
