Liverpool’s Sadio Mane donates ₦17m to help fight coronavirus

Liverpool striker, Sadio Mane has donated the sum of £41,000, approximately ₦17m to a health care organization based in Senegal his country to help fight against coronavirus.

The global pandemic that has been ravaging European and Asain countries for over three months now seems to be creeping into the African continent.

Senegal which happens to be one of such African countries has 27 confirmed cases of the deadly novel virus, with two recoveries.

According to the Mane’s agent who spoke to BBC, the CAF player of the year made the donations ‘spontaneously’

Moreover, Mane took to social media to tell Senegalese people to take the virus ‘extremely serious’, and then went on to give tips on how to avoid the disease by applying ‘disinfectant or wash their hands for at least 30 seconds’.

Senegalese officials announced Monday the suspension of flights between the West African country and several countries in Europe (France, Belgium, Spain, Portugal and Italy) and in the Northern Africa (Algeria, Tunisia).

While fellow West African country, Nigeria, recently placed travel ban on 13 countries including Uk, Us, China, Italy, Germany, others.
