Nollywood actress, Victoria Inyama, has given an opposite opinion countering the opinion of her colleague, Anita Joseph on rape.
Over the weekend, Anita Joseph lashed out at some married women that come out to say their husbands raped them when they weren’t in the mood for sex.
In a video which the actress made with her husband, she opined that the woman’s body is food for her husband.
So, whenever he needs it, it should be made available for him and so the woman can not claim her husband raped her, even if she was not in the mood for the sex.
Reacting, many people disagreed with the actress who just celebrated her three years wedding anniversary with her husband of recent.
One such person who has reacted from her own experience is Victoria Inyama. Reacting to Anita’s video, Victoria said certainly, Marital rape exists.
According to her, many married women, including herself, have experienced and are still experiencing it.
She further opined that sex even in marriage should be with consent from both parties. Noting that forceful sex is also an act of domestic violence.
“Can a husband rape? Yes, a husband can rape his spouse. It depends. Let me define it,” she said.
“Marital rape or spousal rape is the act of sexual intercourse with one’s spouse without the spouse’s consent.
“The lack of consent is essential here because it does not need to involve physical violence. Marital rape is a form of domestic violence and sexual abuse.
“Husbands can rape wife. I do not know about wife raping a husband. The most important thing is consent is needed.
“A lot of women constantly raped in their marriage. They are so ashamed to even talk about it.
“I have experienced it and I am learning about it. The trauma and the damage it causes is beyond your understanding,’ she said.
