Popupular Nigerian author, Ife Duronmi-Etti, has taken to her social media page to recount her ‘horrific’ experience with the deadly coronavirus.

She expressed gratitude to God for her recovery while also revealing how her life ‘flashed’ before her very eyes.

“If I had 10,000 tongues, it still wouldn’t be enough, Na re ke Le mooooo! Last week, someone sent me a message and said, Ife, you’re the ‘E’ in extra and I love it.. I’ve accepted the title,” she a wrote in an Instagram post.

“June tested my existence. From the first day to the end! Every day was a horror movie. On the first of June, I woke up in soooo much pain!

“It started with headaches first, then body pains. I went into the hospital and I was diagnosed of a bacterial infection.”

She revealed that after using medication for the bacterial infection, she still didn’t feel better.

It got to a point that she was unable to talk, saying “It felt like I had 3 safety pins in my throat and the inner part of my neck was sewn together. I couldn’t talk..nothing.”

As a result, a doctor suggested she took COVID-19 test, which came back positive. However, the NCDC refused to attend to her because she hired a private person to take the test.

That led to her self-isolating and administering the medication on herself. She went on to describe how her health deteriorated, leading to her even pooing on herself.

“I was purging uncontrollably. There was a time I felt like I wanted to poo, I got up and I saw the poo on the floor! I couldn’t even laugh, poo would come out.

“I couldn’t sit up or hold a conversation for 30mins, I’ll be dizzy and weak. It was a NIGHTMARE! Literarily one month of terror.

Fortunately, her health later improved and she took two tests on the 27th of June which both came back negative.
