An 18-year-old biracial woman, Althea Bernstein, has suffered 2nd degree and 3rd degree burns after she was set on fire by four ‘racist’ white men in the United States of America.
Althea who narrated her story to ABC News was in tears as she described the horrible incident.
She said she was on her way to visit her brother in Madison, the capital city of Wisconsin. In the course of her journey, she stopped at the signal of the traffic light and was listening to music.
Out of nowhere, she saw four white men approach and yelling N***a loudly at her. Then they poured lighter fluid on her and threw a lit lighter on her which caused the fire around her face.
“Once it happened I don’t even remember anything, but your brain still has that fight or flight response that takes care of you,” Bernstein told ABC’s “Good Morning America,” adding that she drove herself to the emergency room.
The police are currently investigating a possible hate crime, which is believed to be premeditated.
