Three men have been charged before a Magistrates’ Court in Ikeja, capital of Lagos state. They stand accused of stealing clothes worth N450,000.
The defendants, Wasiu Emiloju, 18, Yusuf Gaji, 22, and Muiz Ayila, 24 are facing charges of conspiracy and stealing. However, they pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Victor Eruada informed the court that the other members of the group are yet to be apprehended, stating that the defendants perpetrated the offences at No. 72, Agodo Cornel St, Isale-Eko, Lagos, on 5th of January, 2020.
According to Eruada, the defendants allegedly stole the clothes belonging to the complainant, one Mr Lateef Ekwobi.
In addition to that, He said the offences violated Sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Reports from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) has it that Section 287 commands a three-year jail term for any convict.
In any case, The Magistrate, Mrs M. I. Dan-Oni, allowed the threesome bail in the sum of N100, 000 each with two guarantees each with the same amount
Miss. Dan-Oni adjourned the case until Feb. 24, 2020.
