A tragic bus crash in Osun reportedly killed 6 catholic faithfuls

A tragic accident reportedly occurred yesterday claiming the lives of six people.

The six dead were catholic faithful were supposedly returning from the Annual Oke Maria Pilgrimage in Otan Ayegbaju, Osun State.

According to reports, 9 passengers of the ill-fated eighteen-seater bus sustained minor injuries.

The bus which belonged to SS Peter and Paul, Catholic Church, Lagere, Ile Ife, crashed on its own after the driver lost control of it.

According to reports, FRSC officials arrived at the scene of the accident and evacuated the victims with the aid of several community residents. The survivors were then rushed to the hospital

The earlier reports by the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) said only three persons lost their lives as a result of the accident. 

According to the FRSC spokesperson, Mrs Agnes Ogungbemi “the accident claimed the lives of two male and one female while their corpse already deposited at the Lautech Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.”

However, other reports have since emerged claiming that 6 deaths were later recorded.

Meanwhile, speaking on behalf of the Osun State Police, Folashade Odoro confirmed the accident. He then urged motorists to avoid over speeding and dangerous driving.
